Moshie

I rescued my German Shepherd, Moshie, from a “no kill” shelter when he was seven months of age. My new dog was very high energy and extremely anxious/scared. Based on his behavior, I signed up with another company for a beginning training class. The class became a nightmare for both me and my puppy, it was a struggle to keep him focused and quickly it was a battle of wills. I reached out to the trainers from the class and inquired about their “off leash” program. Moshie was accepted into their “off leash” program and went away for six weeks. After graduating from their program, he continued to train weekly with them and even though there were significant improvements in his obedience, he was never trustworthy “off leash,” and I continued to have issues with unpredictability and aggression. Sometimes, he would lunge at a person or a passing car. Soon after an incident where Moshie lunged at a stranger that passed to close on the sidewalk and connected with their arm, I sought out alternatives for Moshie.

My neighbor had sent their dog to training and the dog was very well behaved upon her return. I reached out to that trainer, Jim Lessenberry at Animal Learning Systems, and spoke with him about Moshie’s behavior and the fact that he would react before giving a warning. Jim and I agreed that Moshie would go through an evaluation to see if he would be able to assist me and Moshie. Based on the evaluation, Jim thought he could help Moshie gain some confidence and Moshie went away to training for 9 weeks with Jim and Evan.

Moshie has since returned home after the training and transition back to me. It is a remarkable change. I can walk the neighborhood, pass by cars, allow him to be off leash as I walk the neighborhood and Moshie stays right with me. It is an unbelievable transformation and I could not be happier with his training and his new found confidence. I would highly recommend Animal Learning Systems to anyone that wants a confident and properly trained dog!
